Meet management made simple.

Thank you so much for this Jason! Any insight on how this would work with double duals in the Leagues tab? Just from playing around, I see that after scoring all of the finishers from all of the heats, it shows the full list of all finishers in their overall order/place. However, I don't know if there is a way to see the "league by league". I know it sorts them out in the scoring when you publish, but I'm thinking in the event that you have a JD you won't know if it is right across all leagues until you publish. Or am I just missing something :) I'm wondering if it would be handy (or even possible) to have a drop-down filter of each of the competitions in the leagues (AvB, AvC, BvC).so that you could see just the league results before publishing. OR it might already be there and I'm a moron. OR it might never be needed and it is a waste of your time :) Either way, thank you for adding this functionality!
Sorry...to be less ambiguous, I was referencing when you are in the EVENTS tab. Thanks!!! PS-And I was serious about the T-shirt...and is there a donations link?
I donated a couple of times so there must be one somewhere :-) Thanks Jason, bar heights is a big addition!
Michael, it's absolutely a good question. Right now in my not-yet-released version, the JD overrides the place absolutely. So it totally breaks with the league concept or other subset filtered results at the moment.
So, I'm guessing that the points will follow the place as established by the JD? Without seeing it, my guess would be that, after scoring the individual heats, you would navigate to the "All Heats" tab and make the adjustment there? If so, since you can see heats and times, you could just make the adjustment accordingly to your double duals. This shouldn't be too hard with three places and three teams, but I'm not good enough with math to figure out how it would work with some of these 5 or 6 team things :) I do think it would be handy if there were a drop down on the Events Page (similar to the one that lets you filter by Jumps/Sprints/etc) that would pertain to any of the Divisions/Groups/Leagues so you could see what they look like before publishing. That way you could get a view of things to make sure they check out before moving on. This feature might only be needed 10% of the time and not really worth the effort, though. Just thinking out loud...
Hey, Michael, I like the way you think! You're a valuable user since you give great ideas and feedback. One thing I'm learning about in my newest business and tech studies is about focusing on the minimum viable product (MVP). So in order to get this version out fast, I'm going to focus on the minimal amount of features to make this worthwhile. And then we can work on improving and expanding it later.
So the way it is working right now is that you right click on the results on the Events tab and click "Show JD Column" ... just like you would on to show the seed or exhibition column. I prefer to do this rather than show it by default because we want to keep it simple and clean for non-advacne users.
So you can see it when you are viewing one heat.. but, yes, you'd also see it on "All Heats" as well. The points would follow the JD place as you indicate.
The one thing I think I need to get working before I can release this as a minimum viable product is to get this JD place recognized for seeding purposes from prelims to finals. Because I can definitely see this as being needed in case of a tie to the hundreth across two heats where you need to go to the thousanth to decide who advances to the finals.

I haven't played with it yet to see, but since RT only records results to the hundredth, wouldn't you be able to break the tie already in the "All Heats" tab? Let's say you're running 4 heats of a prelim, 1 place plus times (which, really, is just times in most cases...especially to the hundredth)...the only place that the tie comes in is between 8th and 9th place. Even if you can't break the tie, you can fudge .01 w/out changing order of finish or who moves on to finals...right?
I played with the scenario of JD to the thousandth...for that to come into play going from pre to final, because it is based on place then time, you would need to have this combination for it to come into play...two runners, two separate heats, same time through the hundredths, same place of finish (because of place then time rule), that just so happened to put them on the cusp of the last one in, first one out spot. I don't know what the statistical probability of that happening with just two heats to finals let alone 5 or 6...it hurts my brain :) Of course, that is if you are running FAT. If you are hand-timing, how in the world would you be able to decide who gets that final spot. So much variability in HT, that you would have to have the JD carry through. I don't even know the rule on that...is there a preference given to heat priority, lane preference, nicest blocks, etc???
I do like the idea of doing it as a "Show JD Column"...keeps the clutter out of the way. I also like that it isn't in the equation unless you absolutely need it. I think that is how the suggested drop down should work (in some future revision)...it is only present on the page if your meets are set up with leagues/divisions/etc.
Glad to be able to offer any worthwhile feedback! I am kind of a "pie in the sky" type of person, so shut me down if I get too carried away :)
Maybe I can just add a thousanth option as the tie breaker you can enter at the bottom.
And actually you have a really good point... the JD column doesn't make a lot of sense in the context of the individual heat. It might cause confusion since people will think it's in context of that heat. In fact, it's kind of confusing. So I think I will only show it with all heats, unless there is only one heat.
