RaceTab 3.5 Release Candidate 6 - December 18, 2012

Here is tonight's build...

http://cache.milesplit.com/racetab/racetab.3.50-rc6.exe

I fixed a few things in it, like the Stopwatch. And anything else I told you guys about.

BUT THE BIGGEST THING... and what I really need you to test and feedback on is the IPICO Live Reader thing. I changed this to work as follows....

1) Go to events tab and select event
2) Click IPICO
3) Put in your ip, port, behavior settings
4) Click test connection if you like... this will now just tell you if it connected or not, that's it. will not start listening like before
5) Click Open Connection to start listening
6) This window will now close and a bottom panel, similar to the look of the Stopwatch will appear. This window will show you the live read log and the latest read at the top
7) You can collapse or resize htis window. or even close it
8) If you close it, it will ask u if you want to keep listening for ipico or not
9) If you do close it and want to get it back, just click ipico notification icon at the top.

PLEASE TELL ME IF....

a) it is working for you

b) if you like this general functionality

I AM GOING TO...

Update this more so that the log data is more readable and will include the athlete name if the chip is in the database. havent gotten that far yet... so ignore that it's just long numbers instead of a time and name

FYI.  I downloaded this version.   Here are some comments:

1) Stopwatch is working.

2) Last finisher seems to be working, but only if I minimize the Events tab window.  That seems to explain why it wasn't working before.

The general functionality is useful in hosting events.  Suggestion: It would useful if there was a report that allowed one to define 'age category' results like most road races provide (e.g. Age 0-14, 15-18, 20-24, ..., 45-49.  I can still save overall results and sort that way.    Software is looking very useful.

Glad you're liking the software. I still am not able to have the problem with your "last finisher" not showing and there is no reason you should have to minimize RaceTab. I'm really not sure why you'd have to "minimize the events tab window". I'm not even totally sure what you mean by that, but if you minimize RaceTab then you can not record the splits at all... so just kinda confused here. But tested again tonight....

Open Stopwatch, Start Clock, Click Open Crowd View, start hitting spacebar in RaceTab to record splits..... it shows up in the crowd view window along with the running clock

As far as road racing and age groups... we do have that. On the Setup tab if you click on Groups, you can set up your age groups. There is even a link "Create Defaults" that automates creating them. Athletes will be assigned by age into their group.

If you want to do Overall, Masters, etc... you can set up what we call "Super Groups" in that same window... by setting the age range and then a # of top finishers to include in it.

Then when you publish results, you can choose the option to separate them by group.

Perhaps I'm using Last Finisher inappropriately.  Here's what I do.  I open the Events tab.  The screen is maximized.  I start the Stopwatch.  The clock is running.  If I hit space, the clock times are recorded in the Events tab time area.  I then click on Crowd view and it opens in a separate window.  If I hit Space, it updates the race time, but last finisher continues to show zeros.   The only way I can get Last Finisher to update is to click the Event Tab window's minimize/maximize button.  Once it is a movable window, the Last Finisher works.  Hope that helps.
