Does anyone actually use RaceTab and IPICO to time races?  I have the system and the meet set up but need some guidance on getting chip times and places into the event.  I would appreciate some…Continue

Is there a manual or tutorial to show all the steps and connections needed to connect an IPICO chip system to a computer to have RaceTab time and score a 5K/10K road race?Continue

I don't think you are wasting your time. We haven't tried it with IPICO lately. We sell Race Director and are fans of it, so we have not used RaceTab other than testing with IPICO, but it did work last we tested it. I expect a big lurch forward in RaceTab in the near future.

How much does Race Director cost?  We don't have money for it at the moment but I am very frustrated trying to figure out RaceTab and make it work without manuals or help files.

Did you see the youtube videos and other help info:

As Don indicated, we'll be taking a big move forward this summer. The IPICO integration does work. Others have tested it with the equipment. I've tested it with the simulation software. Unfortunately, I don't have the equipment to test with.

But FloSports is making some investments and you'll see those pay off in the coming months with better integration, more features, fixed bugs, and hopefully lots and lots more user tutorial videos. We will definitely continue more in the video tutorial route than written documentation.

Thanks for responding Jason.  I love what RaceTab will (hopefully) do for me.  I am just not finding it to be as intuitive as others may.  It always seems like I am missing a step or two in my connections or in prepping my event for competition.  Some of the videos are helpful but many seem to gloss over steps and assume that I know how to do things that I can't figure out.  I am making progress in figuring things out but I am starting to fear I will run out of time before our mid-April race.  Thus I will need to give up trying to figure out RaceTab at some point and seek other timing options.  I want RaceTab to work because I see its potential and want to be a part of it.  I love the flexible customizability of reports and the idea of waves, leagues and classifications to do so many different things.  I appreciate the confluence of your computer skills and your passion for the sport.  I also am grateful for the amount of your "spare" time you have used to develop this tool.

As for the videos and help referenced above I have 2 quick points:

1. In the User Guide the "Chips" link comes up with a "page not found" error.

2. It seems to me that many of the videos were done when an idea was under development and demonstrate what RaceTab "will" do but they don't often show the steps or the settings for how to get RaceTab to do it.  The "ipico integration" video is that way for me.

I realize you don't have an actual IPICO system to work with (they should send you one!).  If someone who has one could help me work through my issues it would be much appreciated.  I just don't know what to look for in RaceTab or on my screen.  Should I be able to see the chip reads on my screen as runners finish?  Will the reads indicate runner names, etc?  Where will that be shown?

If anyone can help me make this work, I would be grateful.

Again, thanks Jason for all of your work and I look forward to seeing what is coming this summer.
