I am timing a meet this weekend where there are 9/10 in one race and 11/12 in a 2nd race.  The school's meet score is the top 5 places combined regardless of the race.  Is there a way to do this in RT?

There is not a way right now... but it's a great idea. And by the end of the night there will be in this next release. I'm going to create concept called a "merged event". You will create a NEW event and mark its type as "merged" and then in the other two events you will select this new event as its parent.

Kevin, the latest beta version has a "Merged Race" event type. If you create a NEW event that is a merged race. That acts kind of like a multi event would normally in RaceTab. Now open up the OTHER races and you will see a "Subevent Of" field. Now make those 9/10 and 11/12 both subevents of the new merged race.

Now you will see it will print each individual race like normal, but you can also print the merged race... which will combine both as if they were one race.

There are a lot of possibilities here... for example... you run the high school state championship with 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a.... now set up a merged race with all of them as subevents. and you can automatically get them compiled together!

Here is a walk through video of how to set it up. Download the latest beta and it should work:

Yes, there are several ways.

One would be instead of importing grade a grade, import it as age. Create two age groups. Place ALL race results in the same event and then print first results by age group (scores hidden) which will be the places by race, and then output overall results with scores.

Another would be to simply do the two races as you normally would then under customize in print, select csv and create an import file, import that file for each race into a third event and score that. Really just another way of doing the same thing.

Why does RaceTab rock? Because you can move, remove and sort in ways nothing else will allow.

Since you also own RaceDirector, you can do it there with Divisions and then combine divisions as well I think, but RaceTab fills the bill here nicely so why bother.

Haha, I didn't see what you did Jason, though ironically he already had the power.
